Maintenance jobs in Fresno come in all shapes and sizes. Whether you do routine maintenance for a hotel or hospital, or you work for a rental company doing strange home repairs, maintenance jobs are always around. Turnover in maintenance jobs is usually pretty low, but with every new apartment complex, rental management company, hotel, hospital, school, and even large stores will have at least one maintenance person on staff, many full time.
Depending on where your maintenance experience lies, you might be suited for more than you know. Hotel maintenance jobs, for example, are similar to residential maintenance jobs in that most repairs are toilets, painting and an occasional HVAC job. People with Construction Job experience are encouraged to apply for maintenance jobs in Fresno.
If you’re new to the Fresno area, your maintenance job experience will definitely travel with you. If you have performed maintenance in another area, the job is still the same. California has different laws and regulations (and insurance requirements) for those who are self employed. If you’re maintenance job is working for someone else, not a sub contractor, but actually a payroll type job, then you shouldn’t have to worry about any of those differences.
Most people hiring for a maintenance job in Fresno want to know that you’re skilled with a basic power tool, can fix minor issues and even work on some larger projects. If you can do that, you can probably get a maintenance job in Fresno!
Jobs in Fresno can be both easy and difficult to find depending on your skill level, degree area, and experience. Teaching jobs in Fresno are no different. If you’re a credentialed teacher with a few years of experience, it can still be difficult to find a good job in the Fresno area. Fresno teaching jobs are starting to dry up because of the state budget cuts taking place in every public and private school in Fresno.
Fresno teachers are getting older however. Many teachers have retired, and are planning to retire in the next 3-5 years. Now is a great time to start looking for Fresno teaching jobs, but if you don’t find that perfect job, don’t worry about the Fresno teacher market. In the next few years, Fresno will need a lot more teachers than we have now, and you should be able to choose which school and which school district you teach in.
While many people prefer Clovis schools. Most of us are happy right here in our Fresno classrooms. What about you, did you have a hard time finding your first teaching job in Fresno? Did you apply for weeks before that perfect job opened up? Are you still on the job hunt looking for a job in Fresno?

I just got around to watching Cloverfield. I picked it up at a Fresno Blockbuster (I do love my Total Access) and watched it the same night. I watched the beginning with interest and tried all throughout the movie to find out what this crazy Manhattan wrecking monster was or if it had any similarities to creatures we currently know.
After watching the entire movie (and being disappointed at the ending), I decided to watch a few of the extras to see what they said about the monster in Cloverfield.
The guy who designed the monster said that it was a baby. How were we supposed to know it was a baby? It was eating people and knocking over buildings, it wasn’t playing or having a good time nor did it growl in a baby voice.
Then the guy said the Cloverfield monster was scared. Scared!?!? How am I supposed to interpret a 350 foot tall monster eating people and destroying a city? It seems like this monster was on the attack. After all, it never tried to run, it was attacking, especially in the helicopter scene where it jumps out of the mist and smoke to attack a helicopter that was fleeing the scene. I would assume a scared monster would be heading back to the ocean, where it came from.
Lastly, the monster was horribly designed. It was both too boring and too far fetched in the design and qualities. It had typical horror movie qualities like the little babies that jumped off. Whenever they bit someone, another baby jumped out. Typical horror movies have some sort of continuation to the plot so that just incase someone kills the main monster, there are thousands more.
Like typical horror movies, the monster didn’t look real at all. It came out of the ocean right? Why didn’t the cloverfield monster have any kind of swimming abilities? Arms aren’t great for swimming, but tails and fins are. Oh yeah, it didn’t have a tail or fins. It did have some weird head gills though. I don’t mind monsters that don’t look real, but if the point of the movie is to be a realistic type fantasy like King Kong, Big Foot, or Godzilla, make the thing resemble something viewers would understand.
The final thing that struck me as ridiculous is that JJ Abrams said something about how the Japanese always have their monster, Godzilla. He wanted the Cloverfield monster to be the USA monster. Sorry dude, your monster sucks worse than the ending! Please stick to Lost and drop the Cloverfield sequel already. This one was bad enough.
On your drive East on Shaw Ave. you’ll see on the South East corner of Shaw and Marks (Isn’t is Marks?) the “State Bank of India”. While this is very confusing to me, it seems like a great idea.
First, the confusing part. I would assume that a “State Bank” should be in the “State” in which the bank resides. I wouldn’t expect to see a “Bank of Texas” on Blackstone Ave in Fresno. I would expect to see a “Union Bank of California” right across from this State Bank of India in Fresno.
Secondly, the good idea part. Obviously this bank is catering to Indians (not the Native Americans, Indians from India). This seems like a good idea because Punjabi isn’t commonly spoken outside of most Indian circles. Since many business owners and Indian-Americans living in Fresno speak Punjabi as a primary language, being able to bank in their native tongue appeals to many.
While I think State Bank of India is a good idea (while still confusing), a better idea for Fresno and the entire state of California (and South-West United States) is a “State Bank of Mexico”. How many Mexican-Americans would bank at a bank with “Mexico” in the title…
Fresno is not only a beautiful place during the day, as you can see, the skyline during the night is amazing as well. Night life in Fresno is growing quickly in the Tower District. Other parts of Fresno are seeing the night come alive as well.
If you’re in Fresno, make sure you visit the downtown Tower District. Arrive shortly before sunset and stay well into the evening with live theater, live music, art exhibits, night clubs, and great food and drink!
With the construction boom coming to an end for the foreseeable future, construction jobs in Fresno are getting harder to find. Many people in the construction job industry in Fresno have taken up looking for work outside of their main job just to make sure they can provide for their family over the next few years while the home builders and banks recuperate from over building and over lending.
Construction jobs in Fresno may be limited, but there are just as many opportunities for the enterprising construction specialist. People are still looking to add to their homes and upgrade existing homes. You just need to know where to look. One of the first places to start is by starting your own company. The cost is low, generally less than a thousand dollars.
Secondly you’ll want to get a Fresno website and some free business cards. Make sure you list the areas you can work in on your business cards and on your website. Fresno is a hot bed for custom tile work, shower replacements, cement patio work, cheap patio setups, granite counter tops, pool tile installation, and more.
Instead of being depressed about the recession in our country, get other there, get your license and insurance and go to work independently!
Search engine optimization and marketing is generally classified into two groups, white hat and black hat.
White Hat
What hat is that which abides by the generally accepted rules and regulations that search engines have created. This generally includes original content and a clear indication of whether or not something has been paid for (reviews, links, etc).
Black Hat
Black hat is that which does whatever it wants regardless of what search engines say. Black hats generally include spam, cloaking, and other techniques to mislead and trick either users, search engines or both.
Generally people think that white hats are good and black hats are bad. While that is a common misconception, it’s not true. Since there are no laws regulating the search industry, what black hats are doing is not abiding by a companies rules.
Imagine the black hat situation like this, if Pepsi called you tomorrow and told you to stop drinking Coca-Cola products or else you can’t drink Pepsi any longer, what would you do? You would most likely get angry that Pepsi thinks they have a right to tell you what to do, and then start drinking whatever you feel like.
Search engine marketing is the same way. Google (a company) tells people what to do (use NoFollow for paid links, don’t sell links or reviews, don’t cloak, give people exactly what they’re looking for, etc) and if you don’t do what they say, you’re not allowed to drink their Pepsi (or be in their search engine).
Sounds a little crazy doesn’t it. Keep in mind that in this industry, Google has the only drink that tastes good, everything else is crap. That means that if you don’t play by the rules, and Google finds out, you’re forced to rely on traffic from other sources, those crappy sources.
White hats on the other hand pump out quality content for most of their lives and usually don’t make the kind of money that black hats can make. Black hats are constantly working because if they don’t work they stop making money. White hat sites keep making money for years to come because they have high quality (think Fresno) content and trusted links.
So in my mind black hats aren’t bad, they’re just different. If I had the technical skills and ability to write code who knows which side of the fence I’d be on.
If you’re a good writer and enjoy writing about a variety of topics, but lack a lot of technical know how and don’t know much about internet marketing, it might be time for a partnership. These type of partnerships are great for you because someone else is handling the work you don’t know how to do, while you focus on what you’re good at, writing.
For someone like me, these partnerships work great as well because I get to focus on what I do well (marketing) and someone else keeps a website updated with fresh content on a daily basis. It’s a very symbiotic relationship and good for everyone involved. Why do you think the biggest websites all have multiple authors? They have multiple writers so that they are always serving new content. That is key to internet marketing and making money online.
If you’re the kind of writer described above and would like to partner with me on this website or another website (I have hundreds of different niches), please contact me. We can discuss specifics when you contact me about this possible joint venture.
Your job is writing. The more you write, the more the website typically makes. I’ll focus on buying links and generating traffic through a variety of means, while still writing, just not as much. Not only will you have the chance to make money online, but you’ll also get to learn a lot about internet marketing and how to make money online with websites.
Why Is PageRank Irrelevant?
As an internet marketer and someone living in Fresno I get asked this question a lot. Many people know that pagerank (Google’s visual indication of how many incoming links a site has, and how valuable the site is) is irrelevant and outdated, but why?
Personally the only reason I care about Page Rank is because other people care about page rank. To me, the most important part of owning a website is making money. If I’m make $2,000 per month, who cares about the PR? If I’m making $2 per month and have a PageRank of 6, does it really matter what my page rank is?
PageRank is completely irrelevant because although Google would like us to believe that it is how they rank pages, I have plenty of websites with 0 or low PR (1-3) that rank in the top 3 for their targeted key terms. Since they rank so well, why do they have a lower PR than the sites below them? The answer is that page rank is irrelevant.
I’m not the only one who believes PR is dead, check out these posts from other people “in the know” (even though they don’t live in Fresno.
Search Engine Journal - PageRank is dead and NOFOLLOW will NOT Save it. NoFollow has only made it worse.
SearchNewz - Google Page Rank Is Dead
Robert Scoble - Google Page Rank is dead and has been for quite some time … I think 2006 is quite some time, especially for internet time.
Real Estate Marketing Blog - Page Rank is Dead. Another one, I couldn’t agree with more.
Brandon Hopkins - Page Rank Isn’t About Links. It’s true, page rank isn’t about links, it’s about Google’s silly idea that people are easily manipulated…maybe that idea isn’t so silly.
ZeroMillion - Google Page Rank Is Dead. Indeed, PR is completely dead and has been since 2006.
StuntDubl - PageRank is Not Dead… It’s Just Stupid. We’ll just have to agree to agree. Page Rank is stupid…And dead.
Associated Content is a website that will buy your articles on thousands of categories. You can sell them just about any article you write as long as it has a topic (a specific focus is important for any kind of writing.
Creating an account with Associated Content is easy, and free. Even if you don’t live in Fresno, you can still get a free account for a limited time. Use this link to get your free account.
Associated Content makes money by buying your content then selling ads along with your content. So when someone comes from Google to look at your article on Associated Content, they see a variety of ads that are related to the article you’ve written. AC hopes someone will click an ad or buy a product, that is how they make their money.
AC also may sell your article to another website, or newspaper and make money that way. I’ve submitted about 10 different articles to associate content and made money with every single article. My best article earned $7.48 and my worst article earned $4.18. Not bad for being able to write on any subject you choose.
If you have some articles written and want to see if you can make any money with your articles, give Associated Content a try.
Oh ya, as a bonus, they pay you when people visit your articles, the bonus payments aren’t much, but once you get a lot of articles it really starts to add up!
Like the last few posts about making money online by writing, this post isn’t specific to Fresno or the Central Valley. You can take part in this even if you live outside of Fresno (or California).
People like me make money by having websites about specific topics. When you have a website about a specific topic, one of the ways to make money by writing is to write a lot of quality content. Your website will be where you put all of your articles and the content you write. Depending on your area of expertise, your website can be about anything. This method is contrary to the “sell your articles for money” idea because all of the content is still owned by you and you’ll hopefully make money long term, not just when you sell.
One of the easiest platforms to publish content is through a blog. A great blog platform that is free is Wordpress. It’s easy to use and easy to install. Once you have your blog set up (buy your own domain from NameCheap) you start writing about whatever topic you chose. Your topics should all be related to your main topic.
For example, if your blog is about widgets, your articles could be “Buy Used Widgets”, “Find Red Widgets Online”, and “How To Find A Lost Widget”. Those are called “long tail” keywords. They are phrases that not many people will search for, but a few people will find your site through each article.
A good starting goal is one post per day, 7 days a week. Once you begin to write faster, try to up the goal to 10 posts per week, then two posts per day. Eventually you’ll be such a quick writer that if you have 3-5 hours per day, you can write at least 10-15 posts per day. If you’re producing that much content you’ll have a big audience and surely start making money online with a website!
One of the ways to make money by writing is to sell your articles. People like me are always looking to buy articles. The going rate for a 500 word article is between $3-15 depending on quality. If you’re a good writer and can write about a variety of topics, you should be able to get $5-7 per article by selling those articles directly to a website owner.
The difficult part of this approach is actually finding the webmaster that is looking to buy articles. There are a few ways to find people wanting to buy articles on specific topics.
1. Email website owners.
This is going to be the most difficult. You’re going to be cold calling on a bunch of different website owners with no presell and no recommendation. You won’t receive a lot of return emails and you’ll spend a lot of time contacting people.
2. Set up shop.
A long term idea is to set up your own website and list the articles you have for sale. You can list them in packs of articles, for example you could list 10 automotive related articles and post the title of one or two as examples. You could then list the price for all 10 articles. You could also have a lot of other topics for which you currently have articles written, and then even have a list of topics you can write articles about. A few good references would help you sell your articles.
3. Make them come to you.
By far, this is the easiest way to sell your articles, however you might not get as much money as the first two methods. The way you accomplish this is to create an account in a few forums where webmasters can be found. My favorite is DigitalPoint. Once you have your account created, you’ll want to make 50-100 posts so you don’t look like a complete newbie. If you can, it would also be a good idea to buy and sell a few small things so you can get some good iTrader feedback. Post count and iTrader is a good indication to potential buyers that you’re legit. The higher your iTrader, the more money you’ll get for your articles. Articles in forums generally sell for around $5 per 500 words. You might be able to get more, depending on the niche of your articles, and how badly someone needs them.
