Fresno Baby Photography

Fresno baby photography is nothing new for many people, but it is for me.  Two of the best places that I’ve found to take baby picture is Babies R Us on Blackstone and JC Penny’s at the Fashion Fair Mall.  JC Pennys is definitely less expensive, but Baby’s R Us takes better pictures and has your prints back in about 15 minutes.

Regardless of which Fresno baby photographer you prefer, you’re going to get well taken pictures.  JC Pennys typically has a coupon online that will get you a free sitting or $3.99 prints.  Babies R Us will sometimes have discounts at the register when you go to take your pictures.

Overall, both Babies ‘R’ Us and JC Penny’s are great places to get your baby photography done!

Stats for Pro Members from Flickr

It’s about time, but Flickr is finally offering a stats package beyond the basic “views” stats currently offered.  Posted on their website December 13th, in a post titled Stats, stats, baby! Flickr announces that the stats package is only available to Pro members.

In the post, Heather Champ, gives a screenshot (blurry and small) of what the stats page looks like.  From the screenshot is looks like the page shows total view in graphical (think Google Analytics) format.  Interesting stat is the referrals including Search Engine traffic, direct links and websites that referred visitors to your Flickr pages.

The screenshot also shows all of your total stats including comments and individual picture views.

Cheap Studio Lighting

If you’re new to digital photography and looking to get cheap studio lighting, there is no cheaper and easier way than a run to Home Depot and Wal-Mart. I know, before you hit that back button, just hear me out.

Home Depot, one of the largest DIY stores in the world, has a wide assortment of halogen shop lights. These are the lights you’ll want to pick up.

Halogen Shop Lights

My actual lights have two heads and they’re on a stand. Each light is 250 watts. You want to make sure each light is at least 150w. You’ll want some lights facing your subject, lights to the right of your subject and a fill light behind your subject. You’ll want each of these lights to be the same because the color tone for different lights is different.

Once you get these lights, plug them in, set your white balance (auto white balance should be pretty good), and you’re ready to shoot!
