After watching the entire movie (and being disappointed at the ending), I decided to watch a few of the extras to see what they said about the monster in Cloverfield.

The guy who designed the monster said that it was a baby.  How were we supposed to know it was a baby?  It was eating people and knocking over buildings, it wasn’t playing or having a good time nor did it growl in a baby voice.

Then the guy said the Cloverfield monster was scared.  Scared!?!?  How am I supposed to interpret a 350 foot tall monster eating people and destroying a city?  It seems like this monster was on the attack.  After all, it never tried to run, it was attacking, especially in the helicopter scene where it jumps out of the mist and smoke to attack a helicopter that was fleeing the scene.  I would assume a scared monster would be heading back to the ocean, where it came from.

Lastly, the monster was horribly designed.  It was both too boring and too far fetched in the design and qualities.  It had typical horror movie qualities like the little babies that jumped off.  Whenever they bit someone, another baby jumped out.  Typical horror movies have some sort of continuation to the plot so that just incase someone kills the main monster, there are thousands more.

Like typical horror movies, the monster didn’t look real at all.  It came out of the ocean right?  Why didn’t the cloverfield monster have any kind of swimming abilities?  Arms aren’t great for swimming, but tails and fins are.  Oh yeah, it didn’t have a tail or fins.  It did have some weird head gills though.  I don’t mind monsters that don’t look real, but if the point of the movie is to be a realistic type fantasy like King Kong, Big Foot, or Godzilla, make the thing resemble something viewers would understand.

The final thing that struck me as ridiculous is that JJ Abrams said something about how the Japanese always have their monster, Godzilla.  He wanted the Cloverfield monster to be the USA monster.  Sorry dude, your monster sucks worse than the ending!  Please stick to Lost and drop the Cloverfield sequel already.  This one was bad enough.

Airways is the best value of golf in Fresno with green fees ranging from $10-18 with many different specials online.

Finally on your Fresno golf vacation you’ll want to stop by the Copper River Country Club. A beautiful new development directed by native Fresno resident William R. Tatham Sr., and driven by a staff of dedicated and experienced employees, Copper River Golf Club is destined to be one of Fresno’s best kept secrets. Opened for play in 1995 the Copper River Golf Club is a favorite among locals for it’s beautiful new scenery and wedding locations. David Pfaff designed this par 72 18 hole championship course and features water on 7 of 18 holes. One unique feature of Copper River is that no two fairways are parallel to each other so your group will enjoy the mountain views in privacy.

Don’t miss the fun and excitement. I’m telling you first hand that watching the monster trucks is a blast. I’ve seen them at the Fresno Fairgrounds and the Madera Fairgrounds. It is loud and fun, bring the whole family. It will be the most fun for kids aged 7 and up, but there is no age requirement. Even your 75 year old Grandpa Joe will have a good time and tell you a story about when he was a kid….

The site that I first heard about Joggling is written by Perry Romanowski and is intriguing, unlike Ghosts of the Abyss (which is tried to watch last night), because of the uniqueness (yes, it’s a word) of the sport.  I thought I’d share a few of Perry’s posts that I liked.  If you need to see what joggling looks like, Perry has some great videos.

If you know me, exercise is NOT my idea of fun, but yesterday afternoon I went for a jog (not with juggling balls, running is hard enough for me).  I managed to run without stopping for about 5 minutes at a quick pace.  I expect that was almost 1 mile.  10 years ago I could run a mile in the low 6 minute area.  I love the views at Woodward park in Fresno, so I might recommend running in Woodward Park Fresno if you must. Today my legs hurt, I don’t know if I would recommend anyone else try running, or joggling ever again!  For those of your that are stubborn check out these posts about Joggling by Perry.

Perry recommends that you don’t drop your juggling balls in Exxon-Valdez like black goo.  I don’t think it needs to be said that black goo should be avoided at just about all costs.  I also avoid that black goo called coffee.  Think about this, it goes it black, but comes out lighter colors.  Where does all that black go?

If you insist on joggling around Fresno, you’re definitely going to get questions.  When people ask silly questions like “Have you dropped one?” you can answer with these great responses.  My favorite is definitely, “On one of those rare occasions that you drop in front of spectators, while you pick up the balls look at one of them and say, ‘Now see what you did!? You gave me stage fright!’”

By the way, if you think Joggling is weird or strange, you’re not alone.

So if you see a fellow joggler in Fresno, recognize that you have a very unique talent in common and buy them lunch!

What was up with Barry Zito?  He pitched like he should be playing for the Fresno Grizzlies.  With an outing like that the Giants should be asking for a refund!

This looks like it’s going to be a long season for the Giants, while Fresno might just have some fun this year.

Was Jessica Simpson to blame for the embarrasing outing for Romo?  I doubt it, he never has been that good and now his thumb is hurt.  He has plenty of excuses for having a horrible day, Jessica was just the easiest to take a jab at.

If Cowboy fans want to see a different Romo next week just remind him that he has led the team to a 12 – 2 record.  Pretty good for an average quarterback in the NFL.

From the reports (I wasn’t able to play this year), Dan Klein did a fantastic job hosting the event and everyone thought it was a great success. Looks like just about everyone wants to take part in this SEO poker tournament next year.  Were there any other poker playing celebrities that I didn’t see?

Anyone know what Dan Perry won for coming in first place?

I mean, if the guy is a great baseball player shouldn’t he be in the baseball Hall of Fame? After all, isn’t the Hall of Fame for great baseball players? Or is it for people with spotless lives? Are we only allowing people with perfect moral and criminal records into the HoF? Will Barry Bonds be allowed to be in the HoF? He is by no means perfect anymore.

The SmartPastor says, “When you use HGH or some other performance enhancing drug, you are doing so to improve your performance. One would do the same when the cork their bat, scuff a baseball prior to throwing it, or throwing a spit ball…But when you bet on baseball, especially when your team is involved, you are not automatically doing so with the intent to win nor are you doing it with the best interests of your team in mind.”

Is this not obvious first of all? I doubt Pete Rose was thinking much about his team when he was placing his bets. Of course he was gambling with his personal money.

Let’s not get carried away here. We’re assuming that Pete Rose actually bet on baseball, something that Pete Rose denied on Aug. 24, 1989 in a 5 page agreement with MLB and former commissioner Giamatti. Regardless of the fact that Rose later admitted to gambling and betting on his own team, at this time he was still denying it. Yet, he was banned for appearing on the ballot until 2005 IF the commissioner reinstates his appeal.

Later, Rose went to jail for tax fraud and served his time. Fast forward to 2002 when baseball agrees to let Rose be part of MasterCard’s Memorable Moments promotion. Something that shouldn’t be done for someone banned from baseball right? Well it was good for baseball and very profitable. (more info)
