Fresno is not typically known for it’s great golf vacations. Fresno golf courses started gaining some interest when Donald Trump was trying to buy the bankrupt Running Horse Golf Course (link) in Fresno. While Running Horse Golf Course is a beautiful course, Fresno has many other great golf courses and would make a perfect vacation spot for someone looking to experience life in the San Joaquin Valley for a few days.
In addition to Running Horse, Fresno’s Riverbend Golf Course (link), located on Avenue 12 is a premiere semi-membership daily fee golf course. Near many different restaurants and hotels, Riverbend is a must stop on your Fresno golf vacation.
After Running Horse and Riverbend is one of Fresno’s oldest and most beautifully serene golf courses, Fig Garden Golf Course (link). Fig Garden Golf Club opened for play in 1958 and remains semi private and open to the public. With thousands of trees, Fig Garden in Fresno will try your ball control and keep you wishing you had worked harder at keeping the ball on the fairway! Green fees range for $20-40 at the Fig Garden Golf Club and Pro Shop.
Older than Fig Garden is the Airways Municipal Golf Course (link) and restaurant. Opening for first tee off in 1952. Airways is a short golf course that offers tight fairways and small greens. A great course for both the older golfers and the experienced golfers. Like Riverbend, this course will test your ball control through all 18 holes. Airways is the best value of golf in Fresno with green fees ranging from $10-18 with many different specials online.
Finally on your Fresno golf vacation you’ll want to stop by the Copper River Country Club. A beautiful new development directed by native Fresno resident William R. Tatham Sr., and driven by a staff of dedicated and experienced employees, Copper River Golf Club is destined to be one of Fresno’s best kept secrets. Opened for play in 1995 the Copper River Golf Club is a favorite among locals for it’s beautiful new scenery and wedding locations. David Pfaff designed this par 72 18 hole championship course and features water on 7 of 18 holes. One unique feature of Copper River is that no two fairways are parallel to each other so your group will enjoy the mountain views in privacy.
When it’s time for your next golf vacation, think about Fresno!

1Thank you for this! My husband loves to golf and we were planning a trip down that way to see some family soon. He was griping about how hard it would be to find a decent golf course. I’m going to show him your post as soon as he gets home. Thanks again!

3I never knew Fresno had so much to offer the golfing world. Maybe they should hire you as a marketing consultant snd see if they can draw in a tournament for the top players. Thanks for the info, good article.
